Passengers & Travel
4 QuestionsAll passengers must carry a valid form of government-issued photo identification. A valid passport is required for all routes to France. For routes between Ireland and Great Britain (UK), Irish and British citizens may travel on a national ID card or passport; non-EEA nationals must carry a valid passport.
Please ensure your travel documents are valid for the entire duration of your journey. We recommend checking current entry requirements before travelling, as these can change.
Yes, we welcome pets on selected routes. Dogs, cats and other small domestic animals can travel in designated pet-friendly kennels or remain in your vehicle on the car deck, subject to the route and vessel type.
When travelling with a pet, you will need to comply with the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) regulations, which include microchipping, vaccination records and an animal health certificate. Please contact us in advance to confirm pet availability and book your pet's space.
Absolutely. Irish Ferries is committed to providing an accessible travel experience for all passengers. Our vessels are equipped with lifts, accessible cabins, adapted toilets and designated priority boarding for passengers with reduced mobility, wheelchair users and those requiring additional assistance.
Please inform our team of your requirements at the time of booking or at least 48 hours before departure so we can ensure the right arrangements are in place for you. Contact us to discuss your needs.
Check-in typically opens 2–3 hours before scheduled departure and closes 30–45 minutes before sailing. We strongly recommend arriving at the port with sufficient time, as late check-ins cannot be guaranteed boarding.
